With a slight chill in the air, I began my drive south from Carson City, NV. I chose to take a less direct route to my destination, Bishop, CA. First, I left Hwy 395, to follow Hwy 89 over Monitor Pass. As I suspected, the high mountain aspen trees were in bright golden fall color. I’ve traveled near Mono Lake several times, but never stopped to get a close look at this large lake. This time I stopped to see the lake shore & tufa formations. At the lake I again made a detour off Hwy 395 to take the less traveled route on Hwy 120 & 6 to Bishop. Near Bishop, I stopped to visit the Laws Railroad Museum & Historical site, a collection of railroad equipment, old machinery, buildings & misc. old stuff.
