Football championships

When I visited Bern, Switzerland, I noticed people driving around with various national flags attached to their cars. I also saw flags hanging from the windows of buildings. As I continued my travels in Europe, I again saw these flags displayed in similar fashion in other parts of Europe. Eventually I realized that there was some sort of football championships (we call it soccer) going on.

5 June, 2008: A LONG DRIVE TO ITALY VIA THE ALPS

Another rainy day drive. This time I drove north to see Lago Maggiori, Lago Lugano & Lago di Como. During this drive I drove into Switzerland again. I had a mission to not run out of gas before I got to Switzerland. I had just enough Swiss money to buy a tank of gas & I wanted to spend it before I left Switzerland for the last time. In spite of the clouds & rain, it was clear enough at times to catch a glimpse of the beautiful scenery surrounding these 3 lakes. Some of the roads were very narrow in some locations. In some of the towns I encountered some heavy traffic.

Chateau-de-Chillion & over the Alps

4 June 2008 A castle in Switzerland & crossing the Alps. When I left Bern, Switzerland in the morning, the sky was grey & it was raining. It continued to rain most of the day, until it cleared for a few hours in the afternoon. There were two highlights for this day. First I stopped at Lake Geneva to visit the Chateau de Chillon Castle. Later in the day I drove over the Alps leaving Switzerland & entered Italy.
