We carried our luggage to the bus & had a quick breakfast before heading north to Galway. We had a ferry to catch to cross the Shannon River. It started to rain as we entered Lahinch around noon. As this was our lunch stop, we had time to walk on the beach. Lahinch seems to be a popular place for Irish surfers. It’s similar to Santa Cruz, California, without the roller coaster. Not long after we arrived here, the clouds parted allowing the warm sunshine to peak through. After lunch, it was a short drive to the spectacular (and popular) Cliffs of Moher. Not as crowded, the Burren is of interest for it’s geology & ancient history. The limestone rock formations show evidence of glacial movement in the past. Here we saw the Poulnabrone Dolemen, a 4000 year old burial structure. Not far from here we stopped to walk along the earthen walls of an ancient ring fort. We finally arrived in Galway where we had a fine group meal before settling down for the evening.
